Ivy was born among the rich and powerful, in a big manor in the countryside, raised by close family members including her grandparents, aunts and uncles. They were part of a minor noble house, not important enough to influence the kingdom's politics but well off to live in relative luxury. They are alive and well.
Have lived an incredibly sheltered life, with nothing critical having happened to her, Ivy departed for adventure, having studied magic in the relative safety of her manor, wanting to put all that knowledge to the test like the protagonists of the books she very much loved reading.
