Matteo Giovanni is a handsome man with classical Mediterranean features. The pallor of his skin, however, is notable for a person of Italian descent. His pale blue eyes are set deep, and betray an older soul than his youthful appearance would otherwise suggest. Tall and broad-shouldered, the man nevertheless carries himself with unexpected elegance.

The vampires of Clan Giovanni Embrace exclusively within their family. Not every Giovanni cousin suffers the Curse of Caine; most don't even rate the Proxy Kiss, the brutal period of being a ghoul. Matteo was one of many candidates who had to wait for decades for the Embrace, his patience was tested, and expectations shattered in many ways.

In life, he was a loyal son and would not bat an eye before doing all he could to help his family. After decades of wait however, his embrace came. That only seemed to bring out that side of his more. Matteo thrives on knowing his efforts further the goals of the clan Giovanni.

While he was not the genius his sister Paola grew up to be, he did have similar opportunities, and so he worked hard to earn the family's recognition. His passionate and proactive ways led him to work for Don Clarenzio, head of Atlantic city during the Prohibition. Despite trying to be recognized for his intelligence, his duty started as that of a simple grunt. His cunning helped avoid a dozen police operations to stop the smuggling. Growing in respect inside the business, finally being petitioned to be embraced in the early 30's by Clarenzio.

After that, he continued to make the family proud of his work and sense for business. His connections allowed him to be one step ahead of those that wished to undermine the Giovanni. Yet he never truly earned his sister's trust as much as he wanted. With how she has become reticent, that wall has been raised even taller. Whatever has caused her to be that way remains his goal to discover.
