The Rakshasa is one of the beastmen races in Ashan that were created by the Crimson Wizards of the Seven Cities to serve as replacements for their orc and goblin slaves. Like the others, they were created by combining human slaves or prisoners with animals.

Rakshasas are half-human and half-cat, and were intended to act as hunters and bodyguards for the wizards. Due to their size, skills, and character, they soon became the officers of beastman armies. As experienced sword fighters with fast reflexes, wielding enchanted weapons, they are considered one of the most dangerous hand-to-hand fighting units in Ashan.

While most of the beastmen joined together and rebelled, fighting against their former masters, the rakshasa chose to stay loyal. This was mainly due to having more privileges, and being treated with more respect, than the other beastmen.

The rebellion however left Batushra alone with a slain master and no conjurer to serve. The magical beast now roams the land searching for the riches he was once blessed with and a master to serve who would provide all that to him and more.
