Feral found himself alone at a very young age. He had no idea how nor why. He knows that he was in a forest. He started watching the animals and learned from them. He watched them foraging for food, fighting, and mating.
He imitated them, becoming so adept at it that he actually became the animals! His first was a badger. He transformed into a beast that could stay warm, dig burrows rapidly, and fend off enemies. His inate ability to shift allowed him to quickly learn other animal shapes.
After some time, in his early teens, he was captured by a band of hunters trying to capture beasts of prey for a client. It was a great surprise to them when what they thought was a panther transformed into a young man in their nets.
The word "feral" was bandied about by the men, and it was one of the first words he learned.
The hunters turned him over to a grove of druids who taught him their ways. He found some who were shifters and learned more shapes and abilities from them.
He never really thought he fit in anywhere, with anyone.
