The twin sister of Captain Britain, Psylocke was blinded when attempting to fill in for her brother as Britain's champion. She was kidnapped by Mojo and outfitted with her bionic eyes. Rescued by the New Mutants, Psylocke joined the X-Men as the team's telepath.

Upon passing through the Siege Perilous with the other X-Men, Psylocke was "reborn" as a Japanese woman. Recognized by the Hand for her usefulness, she was recruited by the Mandarin to serve as his agent, Lady Mandarin. She broke free from her mental shackles and escaped with Wolverine and Jubilee.
