Description
Fennecs are the smallest members of the Canidae family, dwarfed even by average house cats. They are easily recognized by their distinctively long ears which serve to both scatter heat and to hear the movement of prey at night. Their hearing is exceptionally keen.  The mighty predators could easily detect large insects -- beetles, locusts and scorpions -- walking on the sand, or track those that burrow beneath it. This fennec in particular was adorned with a hanafuda earring in its right ear, and strung around its neck was a dull, blue gemstone suspended by a thin gold chain.
