Born somewhere... No one really knows for sure. (Something Penny uses to her advantage whenever possible.)  Whatever dingy hole-in-the-wall greeted her into this world, she was abandoned in some equally decrepit orphanage within days of her birth.   The next dozen years, Penny learned how to pilfer small items, and grift strangers with her sparkling emerald eyes. All the while managing to avoid the grubby sweaty hands of whatever Master ran the orphanage. (there apparently were a few that suffered all sorts of unpleasant demises... not shocking considering the area of town and the lack of cleanliness in the place.. ) On wat was randomly decided to be her 13th birthday, she was shipped off to a nunnery to learn the ways of some "God"... *shrugs*  She doesn't even remember the deity in question's name or pantheon! Wat she did learn was how the church "worked" and the various rituals and prayers used to achieve the desired effects...
Before she was faithful and trained enough to take her final vows, it had been discovered that she was using simply rituals to skim tithings, scam parishioners,
and create an underground fetish ring for visiting clergy, wealthy merchants and the occasional traveling noble..
After a thorough interrogation by a church inquisitor; who left after a cpl of days looking slightly disheveled, a small locked trunk that he didn't arrive with, and wat may have been a hickey and bite mark barely concealed by his clothing. Mother Superior saw thru Penny's shenanigans.. although unable to prove anything to the high priests. Regardless Mother Superior was wiling to take drastic measures... One night while Penny was performing light nite cleaning duties, Mother Superior commanded the girl to follow her to the Inner Sanctum, and proceeded to seduce the acolyte. Penny "welcomed the advances"and clumsily returned the affections. Smocks pulled loose, tumbled to the floor. Habits slung across the back of necks and modest underclothes became damp and torn... Thinking "I've got you right where i want you... you manipulative bitch..." She began crying out for help and for others to come quickly. The two bodies struggled and rolled about the dusty floor. Soon there were eyes, staring aghast with matching gasps of disbelief and shock, as "poor Penny" cried and whimpered at the implied sexual assault by one in charge...

Penny was given hush money and a pretty medallion of the deity, and Mother Superior was relocated to a distant temple on some mountaintop....
