Gilliana is one of the daughters of King Jalla, a small elven forest kingdom far from Sinfar.  She has travelled to a land connected to Sinfar because of a deal between her father and Dumas Blackthorn, the warlord of that realm.

She thought she was going to be a hostage to secure payments from her kingdom and prevent an invasion, which was bad enough.  The truth is much worse, as she is now wearing a collar and is trapped as Dumas's slave.  He's even already modified her in punishment for disobedience, giving her three new silver rings pierced through her flesh.  One is through the tip of her tongue, and the other two on each nipple.
