The morning's light struck the countryside. Fields stretched infinitely beyond the horizon. Amongst the pitiable hunched over masses, Dinah labored. Her hands, calloused and rough, sunk into the muck sowing the next harvest. Each dawn brought with it the same dreary routine, the monotonous syncopation of her mundane provincial life that echoed endlessly within the confines of her village. The fields, which once held magic and wonder in her painfully short childhood, had become a cage, the village her prison.

Her hair, a wild, unruly mass of curls the color of sunlit straw, framed a face etched with the quiet resignation. Her freckled nose was straight and aquiline. High cheekbones framed those eyes still filled with wonder and danced along the sky midst daydreams -- her eyes a shade of gray. Dinah's chapped and broken lips, often beset upon by her gap-toothed smile, which wore and nibbled at each bee stung half.
