As an only child, her family couldn't simply discard her, so they resorted to an unprecedented solution: hiring a human slave, a former warrior from the surface, to tutor her. Under his guidance, Sabace discovered her true calling in martial combat, though this only further stained her family's reputation. She developed into a skilled warrior whose fighting style betrays her unusual tutelage - more direct and practical than the typical drow approach. Her unorthodox upbringing shaped her into someone who stands apart from drow society's expectations of noble females: she carries herself with a warrior's bearing rather than a noblewoman's grace, preferring the weight of a sword to the intricacies of politics and showing little interest in the elaborate social games of Menzoberranzan's elite. While her combat prowess eventually earned her a measure of grudging respect, she remains an outlier in a society that expects its noble women to lead through cunning and divine magic rather than martial skill.

Life in Sinfar
