An orc warlock?

Why?

In another world, in another place, a great warlock had treated with powers that should not have been bartered with and gained power that many would consider unnatural and unthinkable.

Using this power, he opened a gate to a world that he had promised to his demonic masters.  He took a great many apprentices and acolytes that were not quite as talented as this incredibly famous warlock.

This is one of those apprentices.  Rather than tearing open a rift to the targeted dimension, the hole he tore was to this archipelago, in this day and age.
