Ardathlilith

Description
BACKGROUND: Ardathlilith is an ancient demigoddess who once ruled over a now-forgotten empire for centuries. Yet, history is a cruel mistress, her name, once chanted in devotion, has faded into little more than whispers lost to time. Her cult has crumbled into oblivion, her disciples are long gone, and she herself is but a mere shadow of her former glory.

After an eon-long slumber, she awakens in the world of Sinfar, her power diminished, her influence scattered. Was she sealed away by rival deities? Did she choose exile in the depths of time, awaiting an era where her doctrine might flourish once more? The truth remains shrouded in mystery.

Still, echoes of her worship persist. Legends speak of a goddess whose portfolio encompassed domination, love, and self-overcoming. Perhaps more awaits, buried in forgotten scriptures, waiting for those bold enough to unearth the truth.

SYMBOL: The symbol of Ardathlilith is a dark red heart, marked by a savage claw mark on one side and an indelible scar on the other. The first wound represents the merciless trials of the world, while the second is the eternal mark of the demigoddess's blessing, a symbol of devotion and submission.

APPEARANCE: Ardathlilith is a woman of towering stature, her fiery hair rising like an eternal blaze, enhancing her supernatural aura and starkly contrasting with her alabaster skin. Her irises seem laced with gold, while her sclerae are nearly entirely black, connected to strange veins of the same dark hue. Finally, her garments, an exquisite blend of menace and allure, incorporate pieces of dark armor adorned with spikes.

PERSONALITY: The demigoddess remains ever neutral toward events and individuals alike, rarely displaying more than the ghost of a smile or the faintest raise of an eyebrow.
Yet, in her own way, she knows how to bestow her grace and attention upon those she deems worthy, reading their hearts and granting them what they desire most.

VOICE: As she speaks, her voice, feminine yet imbued with a subtle gravitas, resonates with an ethereal, almost spectral echo, both alluring and commanding, as if whispered from beyond the veil of mortal perception.

THE END IS NEAR: Below is the more detailed lore, information an adventurer is unlikely to know at first, but feel free to incorporate it into your roleplay if you wish. Just find a fitting way for your character to uncover this knowledge.

(SPOILERS AHEAD!)

The Kingdom of Ardathlilith dates back approximately 4,000 years, around the time of the ancient Empire of Netheril in Abeir-Toril. She is the offspring of a deity and a mortal, making her a demigoddess, which limited her divine powers. She did not rule from the Upper Planes but directly over the Prime Material Plane, in a well-defined territory. Still, she acquired a divine portfolio, receiving prayers and bestowing blessings upon her followers.

For an undetermined period, she reigned as the goddess-queen of a city, an isolated human settlement surrounded by inhospitable lands, fraught with dangerous wildlife and monstrous creatures. In this harsh world, the men were forced to work tirelessly, take great risks, and make decisions where the outcome often meant life or death, both for themselves and their families.

This harsh existence created a particular atmosphere, one in which more and more men, exhausted and anxious despite their bravery and determination to survive and protect their city, began to find solace in the presence of women who could take charge in the intimacy of the bedroom, allowing them at last to embrace vulnerability and simply be guided.

It was at this time that Ardathlilith emerged. Or had she already been there, subtly manipulating the minds of mortals from the shadows? A question that even the demigoddess herself seems to have forgotten the answer to...

Thus, in this society, men maintained their traditional roles during the day, but would wholly submit to women in the evening. Marriages were less common, and relationships between men and women were far less formalized: men directly exchanged their resources for intimacy.

While women most commonly received gold, they were also willing to accept various resources, ranging from necessities like food to more frivolous luxuries. It was also not uncommon for men to gain favor by displaying rare and prized talents.

It is even said that some priestesses would agree to dominate men who could defeat them in combat. A strange dichotomy from a modern perspective, where strength leads to submission.

So, what became of this kingdom leading it to fall into obscurity? That is yet another thing the goddess has forgotten, or perhaps she wishes for the planes themselves to forget this part of history.

Whispers from the past suggest that, without the institution of marriage, jealousy grew among men, causing too many divisions in a world already on the brink. Inevitably, these cracks weakened the very walls of the city, and the monsters finally poured in.

Dogma: The dogma of Ardathlilith is founded upon three pillars: domination, love, and self-improvement.

The first is clear: Submit to Ardathlilith and her priestesses, leave your responsibilities behind for a fleeting moment of pleasure and forgetfulness.

The second is more subtle: Love is nothing but the active desire for the happiness of others. Whether her words are harsh or her whip brings pain, the demi-goddess is with you, blessing you with her time, her energy, and doing whatever it takes, in her own special way, to pamper you and alleviate your burdens.

Finally, the last concept may seem distant, but self-improvement is just as important as the rest, and is in fact vital for the health of a civilization.
Men compete for the goddess's favor as well as the affections of women: thus, it is essential that they continually improve themselves, honing their strengths in any any field of expertise.
Their labor and their pain will be rewarded with pleasure, love, and even a lineage to carry on.
