Hermit Crab: Sauntering through the hallways, Menrahotep would excitedly poke his leonine head into every room. Glorious décor, spacious shrine, overflowing vault, and an archive divine! It'd take him ages to explore, rummage, and read through it all. If only he could have visited before the previous occupants were driven insane by their discoveries, he was certain they'd have had a grand time trading riddles. But that was the life of a sphinx; preserving ruins to pass from one generation to the next.

Time Flies: Roused from another nap by the howling winds, the sacred beast yawned and stretched his wings. After confirming that the doors were still sealed shut, he'd carve another tally mark into the sandstone floor with his claw. The temple's entrance had long been buried beneath the shifting dunes, leaving little for him to do besides while away the centuries scrying on the deserts above. Today, he watched as a thirsty mother gave her daughter the last of their water. Smiling fondly, he'd gift the woman the location of the nearest oasis. Flopping onto his other side, he'd drift back to sleep, content.

Travel Bug: There were voices beyond the door and Menrahotep was ready: mane groomed, feathers fluffed, challenges prepared, and his purpose clear. He only needed the adventurers the prove themselves worthy and his thousand year task would be complete. After that, it'd be time to leave, to travel, to explore. And as the mighty sphinx mused about how he'd spend his vacation, the stone doors rumbled open.
