[Background]
Dusk Sarsis was born Dusk Iris, and is the product of a trickster kitsune woman seducing a human noble. Upon his birth revealing his own foxy nature, and exposing his mother as a kitsune, his sire rejected them both, and expelled them from his home. Unable to support herself and him, or perhaps no longer caring with whatever goal she had ruined, Dusk was left behind in the forests.

Instead of dying as one might expect, his innate connection to the shadowfell drew the attention of a creature of that plane, whom preserved his life long enough for him to fend for himself. This would eventually lead to a pact between them that has persisted to the current date.

A mishap learning to move through shadows resulted in him finding himself in the schwarzwald forest, where he encountered other people for the first time in a nearby village. It did not take him long from there to discover the pleasures of a beautiful woman... or to develop a bit of a reputation.~

Dusk would eventually leave the forest to set out and explore the surrounding land. He soon discovered his lack of funds to be a roadblock, however. He did not know much yet about any of the local trades, but his magic was well suited to a single job with great pay. His first contract was completed within months of leaving the forest.

He would continue to make his money with assassination work as he explored further and further from his home, and soon developed a code regarding the contracts he would accept, after one such contract sent him after an abused wife trying to flee from and divorce her husband. He forfeit the contract, and took the husband instead.

Before long he began to explore the shadowfell as well, and the many worlds and planes that it connected to. In the shadowfell he built his home and began his collection of books and knowledge, focusing on building a grand library as the centerpiece of his home. Most of the worlds he visited were of little note until Permia.

The land of Permia was in turmoil, in the middle of a civil war with an oppressive citystate. He soon found himself working contracts on behalf of the rebellion, and soon befriended it's leadership. With time that friendship lead to him being named the new leader when they stepped down, a job he took to well. He reshaped the struggling supply lines after taking over, and managed to surprise the city when their forces tried to attack, only to find the rebellion they thought starved to be well supplied, crushing the assault.

It would be several years still before his involvement with the rebellion would end, though in the end it was a bittersweet end. While the rebellion survived, so did the oppressive citystate, forced only to acknowledge the rebellions settlements as a legitimate new citystate of their own.

Once stability was established again, he continued his exploration of different lands, finding his way to another location of note, known as Hurosmir. There he found the letai temple, and encountered the woman whom would become his mate.

Lily Sarsis, mistaking him for a disguised demon she was targeting, snatched him into a pocket of the shadowfell she used to dispatch her prey, only to realize her mistake when he did not react as she expected. Recognizing the space as the shadowfell, and thus not blinded or trapped, meant he did not react with fear or panic. Instead, after a brief exchange between them and seeing who had grabbed him, his reaction was one more... carnal. They proved a perfect fit.

Together they expanded the home they now shared, with four children together and countless plans. For nearly fifteen years, they were happy. ((Lily's player, Alps, passed away suddenly on July 19-20, 2023)).

With her passing, he was not often seen for nearly three years, and has only begun to explore again recently.
