Minkot Otarlòr

Portrait
Description
Minkot Otarlòr, born 300 years ago, to a humble family of small means. Instead of playing with toys as a Wee Bairn, Minkot always wanted to take them apart, see how they worked, put them back together in ways that were more interesting to her. By the grace of Dugmaren Brightmantle, often as not what Minkot thought of as 'more interesting' was in agreement with what her fellow Dwarven Babs thought was interesting, and so at playdates and schooling, she gained a quick reputation as her city's "Littlest Tinkerer", finding more joy in repurposing or building from scratch toys for other Dwarven Babs. This fixation only grew stronger as Minkot grew older, and she left the normal pipeline of Dwarf from bab to miner or warrior or engineer quite early on, entering an apprenticeship under a master tinkerer from whom she steadily learned the deeper secrets of craftsmanship and artifice, mundane and magical both. By the time most other Dwarves were hefting their first pick or battleaxe, she was ready to do journeydwarf-level work, and from there amassed enough reputation and prestige as an inventor and craftsdwarf of magnificent toys and trinkets. Always small things, intricate, and of little use in what Dwarves usually thought of as vital. No agricultural breakthroughs nor military masterminding, no hulking golems to take care of this task or that. Ever things to delight or confound, toys and puzzles and, at the most eclectic end of things, gizmos with extremely limited use cases, like a self-extending ladder, doorknob-remover, or similar. Items for pranks were toys too, after all, and a little thumbing of the nose at authority, a little mischief, could be very fun.
