Description

A tall, lean man in a long oiled leather coat, its collar turned up and a scarred leather gorget showing at the throat. Faint rune-stitching runs through the lining and catches the light when he moves. The brim of his black hat is battered by weather and worse, and it shadows a tired, patient face.

A bandolier of etched rounds crosses his chest. A black-iron revolver with silver inlay rides at his hip, usually holstered, beside a short silvered blade. A brass-cornered leather case hangs across his back on a wide strap, and a small iron lantern burning a pale blue flame hangs from a hook on his belt. He smells of gun oil, candle wax and cold rain.

He is unfailingly polite. He tips his hat, speaks softly, asks his questions slowly, and never seems to be in a hurry. At his heel walks a lean, scarred black hound with pale ember eyes that watches everyone?s hands. Those who look closely notice that the hound stops walking whenever the lantern flickers.
