You see what appears to be a vaugely femenine shape in tattered, dingy old leather armor. What skin that can be seen is blacker than black skin aught to be, and when more closely inspected, you realize this is so - it isn't actually skin, but a kind of... layer of shadow stretched over another layer, just slightly translucent and moving. The creature's big, bright eyes are actually shaped gems floating in the well-defined living shadow of her face. You get the impression her elfin proportions are just slightly off - like she was filling her clothing instead of the clothing fitting her properly. While odd... she certainly seems friendly enough.

Age: 300-ish
Background: Nemo, or "Nameless" is what happens when you stuff an animated chest of holding full of mystical treasures and leave it to its own devices for a few hundred years. Magic, as any mage will tell you, is slightly alive, and does what it wants to, in the end. So, left on its own for a good while, the chest, already highly magical to begin with, began absorbing the magic of the items inside it, turning the absolute shadow in its extradimensional space into a kind of living matter. Two gems of seeing let it see, a periapt of health gave her vitality, and so on - and the extradimensional fold itself became a living thing, self-aware and independant.

Learning to pick its own lock wasn't difficult for a creature with infinite patience, nor was disarming the traps that had protected it for so long and absorbing them into its new being. The complex that held the chest taught her how to control her own shape, how to deceive her surroundings, how to fight, and the value of stealth, and by the time it actually escaped, it had become sentient enough to even decide a gender for itself - it had been female all along since we imprint ourselves on our belongings and she'd once been precious to a female adventurer, but she only realized that when she met other people.
