Description :
Aremus appears to be a normal Dire Wolf, perhaps a bit more distinguished. He was certainly cleaner and better groomed then most, but those were details one tended to overlook when faced with a canine capable of staring them in the eyes while still on all fours. Eye the color of a late day sky stared out from the gruff face, and contained far more intellect then could be accredited to others of his kind. Indeed, Aremus was above average for intelligence, even amongst humanoids.

Most shocking would be his voice, for he could speak, and often did so in a rather eloquent manner. His tone while perhaps a bit growlish in nature, was that of an academic and scholar, one well learned and versed in the mysteries of the weave. He was in fact a mage, and had learned to compensate for his lack of opposable thumbs and humanoid form.

Brief History (OOC Information Ahead) :
Aremus was at one time a rather normal Dire Wolf Cub. Born a runt he was abandoned by his parents in favor of the larger and more healthy pups that shared his litter. Shortly after he was located by a traveling Magus, a woman whom took pity on the decidedly cute newborn and raised him by hand.

For many years Aremus was a faithful companion to the female Magus, always at her side and at her defense in times of battle. Soon the Magus began to experiment with her traveling companion, doing various incantations to boost his intellect and bolster his understanding of her commands and needs. One particular incantation succeeded far beyond her wildest dreams, granting the wolf the gift of not only comprehension, but of speech as well.

Now, many years later, Aremus has lived far longer then is normal for his kind, his one time mistress and benefactor having passed on and leaving Aremus to travel the lands on his own. Those travels have brought him here, and his unique gifts and powers have ensured he can compete and thrive alongside humanoids and have granted him a unique status amongst them.
