History

Jake Kataren grew up in the small village of 'Romule'. he was raised by his parents on the streets. He lived a poor and rough childhood in which he met the love of his life "Nayla" an Elf girl who lived in the village.

During his early life Jake proved to be a natural for the sword and was also regarded as quite intelligent by teachers and peers. Jake had a thirst for Knowledge and was always reading, by the age of 16 he had read every book in the library and began buying every tome and scroll he could from passing traders.

At the age of 19 bandits attacked Romule and killed the Captain of the Guard along with many civilians and guards. Soon after Jake helped lead the local militia in a successful counterattack on the bandit's camp and was chosen to replace the deceased Captain of the Guard but turned it down, believing he was too young and inexperienced to be granted such an honour. Instead Jake chose to travel with Nayla.
In his travels Jake learnt a great deal about the world and it's various cultures. Jake spent most of his time helping people and learning from various books and bards. Eventually he and Nayla settled and eventually married in the Elven village of 'Salandra' at the age of 22. They lived together happily for 3 years in the village where Jake learnt the Elven tongue and much of their culture. When he turned 25 the pair decided to leave Salandra and head back to Romule to spend time with their family and friends.

They were greeted back with much favour and invited to live again amongst the people of the village which had prospered greatly since their departure 6 years earlier. Life began again as normal and after much difficulty Nayla fell pregnant with their first child. However 5 months into her pregnancy darkness came over the village when a Necromancer named 'Marason' travels into town.

That night the skies were tainted black as the town was suddenly under attack by the Undead. Having lived in relative peace for so many years the town was unprepared and quickly taken over. Jake and many other townsfolk held a gallant defence against these foes but it was not enough and the town was destroyed. Jake survived with a small group of others but his family, his love and his unborn child did not. Unable to rally the battered survivors to join him

Jake returned to the village alone in search of justice. With naught but pure vengeance in his heart Jake slaughtered countless undead in search of the source of all this evil, the Necromancer Marason. Weary and battle worn Jake was set to slay the Necromancer. After a long battle Jake had come out on top, but before he could land the killing blow the Necromancer pulled one last dirty trick on Jake, the undead zombie of his late wife Nayla. Jake broke down and fell before Marason, unable to strike down the love of his life.

Marason taunted Jake for his weakness as he brought in the rest of Jake's family and friends. Jake looked amongst the people he loved, now tortured by the Necromancer's evil curse. However in a sudden move Jake rose his sword and after shouting "forgive me friends!" he cut down each of his former loved ones.

Stained with the blood of friends and family Jake now drew his attention to Marason. Try as he might Marason could not hold back the pure will Jake put into his attacks and was eventually cut down. Jake dropped his sword and knelt amongst the corpses and once again asked for forgiveness before collapsing in a heap on the floor.

Jake awoke to the face of a old Cleric named 'Wilhelm' who had nursed him back to health. After learning of his ordeals and deeds Wilhelm decided to take Jake with him as his protégé. Wilhelm taught Jake to control his anger and hatred and taught him the ways of a Paladin. after 2 years of intense training and promising results Wilhelm sadly falls ill and passes on.

Jake promises Wilhelm that he we remember all he has taught him and will endeavour to bring justice and vanquish evil. Shortly after Wilhelm's death Jake sets out to fore fill his promise and put his dark past behind him....
