Wizards of Thay love to experiment on innocent creatures. Melicus is one such example. He was once just an average elf. He had an affinity for pick-pocketing rich looking people within the city of Thay. One day, he stole from the wrong man. He was not only caught, but sent away. Elves are naturally infused with magic. Because of this, they make excellent test subjects.

Sirens are creatures known for luring sailors to their death. They've always been female. Thayan Wizards decided they would try their hand at transmutation this poor elf into as much of a siren as they could without losing his male gender. They wanted to know if it was even possible.

The change was long and painful. The wizards were, however, successful at the end. The creature they had mutated and morphed now had many characteristics of a Siren. Though, the wizards found to make the change more easily accepted by the Elven hosts form, they added a sea nymph-a more "stable" species and better known by the wizards than the mysterious siren.

Melicus stayed in captivity for many many years. He found himself put in a large fish tank with other "experiments". Everyday someone came to feed them. A metal grate separated the feeder and those being fed, protecting the apprentice wizard from retaliation from the mutated creatures of the tank. At least, that was the general idea. Using his strengthening powers, Melicus charmed the apprentice wizard. The unwary wizard listened to the siren's call to join him in the water. Entranced, he reached down and unlocked the metal grate separating him from the siren he so desperately wanted. He lifted the grate to open up the tank. No sooner, he jumped into the water-to his death.

Mostly due to luck, Melicus escaped that day. He wondered the planes looking for somewhere that he could call home.

Melicus is a petite creature. He stands just a hair above five feet tall. His eyes are a brilliant emerald green. One could easily get lost in them. His skin is soft to the touch, yet appears to have a scattering of scales in a few locations. On his shoulders, stomach, and cheeks they reflect like tiny brilliant opals. His skin is a pale blue color. His hair is white as the froth atop of waves. His feet are webbed. His fingers, however, are not webbed.

Overall, most would consider the strange creature attractive. Given his new "bloodline" it is not shocking to find his facial features are even more feminine than before. His ears still remain pointed. His cheek-bones hold themselves high. His lips are full and well shaped. They have a slight flush of color to them. He's a strange, but attractive male by most cultural standards.
