A large muscular dark skinned bugbear who has the look of a dock worker about him, although sometimes he looks more like a mercenary..  He is often seen around the waterfront working, drinking, or being a layabout like many of his kind.

Kurgan used to be part of a Goblin military led by a notable Hobgoblin warlord.  Highly organized and aggressive, this force fought a brutal conquest across an elf and human land.  Raiding, ravaging, and despoiling as they went, the life was dangerous but thrilling.  It all ended when their leader was struck down in battle.  Non other could match the cunning and charisma of the previous warlord and over time the conquest ground to a halt, the armies dispersed, and the dream ended.  Kurgan, like many of his kin, left those lands as the natives were not likely to forget what the Goblin army had done to their people when victorious.  Kurgan eventually finding his way his way here.

Towards the end of the Goblin conquests Kurgan was part of risky efforts to gain sources of power.  During the bloody events and struggles of one expedition he wound up eating a slain devil's still beating heart.  The impact of that event did not manifest until after the glory days had ended, but now contribute to some of his abilities and a reddish glow to his eyes.

(Would be willing to do a scenario of a female adventurer travelling out,  trying to eliminate Kurgan, and reaching a bad end.  Possibly a young survivor of the goblin army raids, grown up a bit and out for revenge.)
