--------Background Story---------------

~Leaving Home~

Sudhira curled up her knees to her chest, as tears silently fell from grey eyes, she opened one to peek at her back, now riddled with red marks that would turn into bruises. He was smart never hitting her on her face or arms, making sure that none ever knew about his wrath. But she knew all too well, pain had been a product of her life for so very long that she could hardly remember a time when it wasn’t there; looking back at her from the polished glass of the mirror.

Waking up she moved her legs to straighten, wincing in pain as she moved to sit up; her legs dangling off the side of her bed, looking around the lavish interior of her room, the silken bright colored fabrics, the lush pillows, her days garment already set out for her; all the while her shoulders slumped as she moved to get ready for her day. Something had changed about the five foot four inch tall woman, something broke last night as her father grabbed a stick and started to strike her over and over again upon her back. Even Sudhira didn’t know it had broken. Piling her long medium brown hair on top of her head and securing it with some combs. She twisted the tendrils that fell about her face into more coherent curls before looking herself over; dressed in a red and gold sari. Her hair was mostly straight with a bit of a wave, something she actually inherited from the man who raised her, at the age of eighteen she figured he would be marrying her off soon, but perhaps he didn’t want to lose her dowry? She actually dreamed of a day when these walls were no longer her place of dwelling.

Keeping to herself as she was prone to doing, never looking the servants in the eyes, rarely speaking she moved towards the dining area the warm breeze coming through the open windows brown shutters banging slightly against the tan stucco of the estate where she lived, it was good that her father had been born into an affluent family and even better that he was given this home as dowry when he married her mother. They ran a small ranch, breeding horses and it gave Sudhira enough space to get lost in.

As she turned the corner with a slight skip she had almost forgotten about the bruises and welts now angry colors of purple, blue and black that littered her back until the jolt made her wince with a soft cry. Making her steps lighter as not to cause notice or draw attention to the fact that she was injured she moved like a tan ghost to her chair, seated next to her as usual was her Father, he might not of been tall, but he was heavily muscled and barrel chested and she knew from experience what sort of pain those large meaty hands could deal out when enraged.

Sitting down she didn’t know if he had noticed her, he was reading over what appeared to be some sort of document, with a soft sigh she began to eat some bread while eying the earthen clay water pitcher on the table trying to determine if she should risk getting a glass, before she could even come to a decision from out of nowhere his hand slapped across her face knocking her out of her wooden chair and onto the floor, the chair turned over; she was in shock for a few moments her mind reeling to figure what happened, until the pain emanating from her cheek moved to spread across the whole half of her face, just looking at him not sure if she had even spoken yet or made a sound, his surly face turned to her; “I told you Sudhira not to lean on the table.”

She didn’t even know if she had been leaning on the table or not but something that was on the verge of breaking maybe already broken snapped in her, she staggered to a standing position and then with a flick of a delicate hand seemed to dust off her red and gold garment , looking at him something clicked inside her it was then that the five foot four women with medium tan skin and grey eyes began to harden and it was in that moment that she noticed the three pronged silver fork placed next to her plate at the table, without even a word, almost no sound at all she moved gripped the utensil and thrust it into her father’s neck into the pumping of his main artery, after jabbing it in she doesn’t know if he screamed but she twisted it and then lurched it out watching the blood spray which was impressive as it coated her face and chest a bit before she stepped back. He was gurgling some reply and staggering towards Sudhira, all she did was politely step back and watched as the life force was drained from her father’s body, as his tan skin became ashen.

It then dawned on her that she had to leave, she was sure some servants must have seen her, would they be running for help, would she be arrested and stoned to death. She then jumped into action she ran for all her life up the stairs towards her room after making it that far, she cleaned herself off in the basin of water always prepared for her in the morning. Scrubbing she could not get it all clean. “No, time for that,” she uttered to herself as she ripped off the red and gold outfit only to don a now violet and blue sari throwing the fabric around her body in the traditional method. She looked around her room seeming to surmise there was nothing in it worth taking she stole away into her father’s chambers where she found two hundred in gold. Sudhira prayed it would be enough to finance her escape from Calimport.
