A monstrous creature, perhaps abomination.  She, for it can only be a female, has the body of a human female from the hips up and conjoined where a human pelvis would be is the cephalothorax, legs and abdomen of a giant spider.  The woman has long pale blonde, almost white hair of fine silky strands that catch the breeze and flutter behind her.  Striking dark purple eyes and fine features grace her face, lips of dusty rose, thin, spare.  Her skin is smooth and pale, almost luminescent white, a pallor quite unlike a corpse, but more akin to mother of pearl.  She has broad shoulders, long tapering arms with well defined musculature, and strong hands with remarkably long fingers and finely kept nails.  Her clothing shows off a healthy cleavage, narrow waist, and a spreading of hips that merge into a chitonous armored plating of almost rainbow hues, accentuating and enhancing the pearlescence of her skin, reflecting any light that touches it.  Her legs are quite long, the thickness of saplings, multi-jointed allowing a wide range of movement, and end not in the common misconception of spikes, but with pedipalps layered with extremely fine hairs.  Her abodomen is a multi-hued, shining, armored sac, that sways and swings behind her as she scuttles along.

A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark’d, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark’d how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them—ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,—seeking the spheres, to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form’d—till the ductile anchor hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.
~ Walt Whitman

Efua's brood cast her out for being different.  She had an "unholy curiousity," asking far too many questions, and exhibited the psychotic habit of "exploring" rather than nesting in her web.

A BIG black spider lived in a hole;
A terrible spider was he:
As big as your hand, and with hairy legs,
And a mouth as red as could be.

The beetles and flies at the sight of him fled,
And even the birds were afraid.
He had two great nippers, and eight wicked eyes;
How he ran ! and what leaps he made
I and all who lived in the garden knew
That terrible spider's lair,
And told their little ones, under their breath:
And told their little ones, under their breath:

Those who were naughty and disobeyed,
By their mothers would not have been known,
For the spider had sucked their juicy parts—
Sucked them as dry as a bone.

One day when he crept quite out of his hole,
To pounce on a passer-by,
Buzz, buzz, came a wasp: the spider's afraid—A spider afraid of a fly!

His poisoned nippers he opened wide,
And reared himself up to fight;
Round, round, and round, flew the wasp, then— down!
And stung him before he could bite.

He crumpled up, and was carried away,
And buried alive, to feed
The baby-wasps that were soon to be born.
~ A. Vine Hall

Often confused with Driders of the Drow religion, Anansi are, in fact, a species in their own right.  Because of the obvious cultural demands, Anansi avoid drow and make their homes in the underdark as far from the dark elves as possible.  As a people, Anansi are generally loners tending to only seek each other's company during mating periods.  An Anansi tribe stakes out a cavern system, each female casting her web in an area she claims as her own and defends aggressively.  The males do not make webs, but rather range through out the cavern system and beyond, often using 'trapdoor' or lighting-strike tactics.  Females consuming males after mating is not unheard of but is far more ritualistic than practical behavior.  Obviously, Anansi maintain a matriarchal culture, though given their individualistic nature though the eldest is by definition the leader, each tribal member goes their own way and only submits to the matriarch or tribe under extreme and rare circumstances.  Typically, females lay eggs within "presents" the males bring her, or if hunting was poor, within the males themselves.  When the eggs hatch the spiderlings exit the host without causing undue harm and scurry off to begin their new lives.

ADVISORY: Most often, "hosts" are unwilling and are partially paralyzed by a stinger.  The poison can act as a disinhibitor, creating a euphoric, hallucinogenic state or in larger doses (repeated injections) disrupt the receptors of motor-responses in the brain, leaving the victim unable to move major voluntary muscles, but completely able to feel everything, in fact, it heightens that feeling.  Scenes may be consensual or non-consensual at the preference of the "victim."

This creature uses an ovipositor, which in her species is as sensitive as a human penis.  It is sheathed by her armor plating till it's needed.  The general practice of this species is to use one or more of whatever orifices the host naturally has available in which to lay eggs.  The process is pleasurable for the Anansi and may or may not be for the victim.  It is entirely up to the "host" if the eggs reach fruition and release spiderlings, or if they simply are absorbed by the body, or if they are excreted naturally and wither on the ground.
