Though now in his thirties, Viktor still suffers from an accident of his youth. Before Viktor had formally begun his studies in of the weave, he dabbled in the study of invisibility. He wanted to know everything about it, what arcane words would grant the property, which plants would make a potion, et cetera. His studies, though devoted, were solely for childish reasons, for seeking the affections of the mistress of the academy that he was to be attending.

 One evening just before getting ready for bed, he had instilled what he thought to be invisiblity into a wand. Not wishing to attempt the magic in the dead of night, he went to bed in the hopes of continuing the next morning. However, that night the wind was fierce, blowing open the window and subsequently blowing the wand from the desk where it rested. With a minor flash it broke, releasing the energy within it, turning everything, including Viktor, invisible. That morning Viktor awoke only to find that his hard work had snapped like a twig, finding out later that day that the wand had affected him. Since that night, Viktor's body periodically disappears at random.
