Description
When the Weave failed, Netheril fell, its floating cities crashing to what would become a barren desert, the scattered survivors hunted to near-extinction by the Phaerimm. Spared by their leader's experimentation with the Plane of Shadow and the shifting of an entire city into the plane, the enclave of Thultanthar was spared.

Though protected by the goddess Shar, the Shadow Enclave was under ceaseless siege in its new home, threatened not only by the plane's native dangers, but by a race of sentients named Maulagryms, natural shapeshifers who developed a taste for humanoid flesh. In an effort to combat their enemies, and with increasingly-adept control over their new home's essence, the enclave's wizards partitioned their souls, creating negative-energy clones of themselves known as Shades.

Even without physical form, many Shades were consumed by the Maulagrym through magic, their unnatural bodies corrupting and fusing with their devourers, creating symbiotic horrors capable of controlling the Plane of Shadow and assuming new forms at will.

Bloodless, fleshless, Shadari Maulagrym are immune to venoms and most elements, capable of healing all but their most-mortal of injuries and resistant to lesser forms of magic. Where once they consumed meat, satiating the endless hunger with flesh, they in their new form learned to satiate it by feeding from darker emotions: anger, fear, hatred; any thoughtform capable of generating negative energy.

Drawn by the prospect of a seemingly-inexhaustible food source, the creature before you, incapable of hiding its origin from the Plane of Shadow, masks its true nature by assuming the shapes of shadow denizens, and can most-often be found in those likely to inspire terror, most notably a bear-sized shadow mastiff, its hide seeming in constant motion, more ink and shimmer than the gray fur it appears to be at a distance.

Lights: I've none, save those restricted by the server's rules, or those that would consistently place me in a position of submission. So long as it's in a dominant role, I'm willing to try anything.
