Description
"It was quite the find, the glitter of golden treasure, jewels that shined in every colour of the rainbow and the ornate, gold and crystalline lamp that rested amongst it all. It did not take a sage of great knowledge to know that the lamp was most assuredly enchanted, and so you could not help but pick it up. No sooner had your hands brushed against its surface, though, than billows of perfumed mist began to pour forth, filling the treasure chamber with its glittering, purple hue. Slowly but surely, the mist began to gather in one place and take form both inviting and curvaceous. Before long the mists had subsided and the beautiful creature now floated before your eyes, towering over you with a look of arrogant bemusement. You had heard the fables, as any adventurer had, but to think you would find one here of all places... a djinni."

[Appearances]
The Djinni is a beauty whose charms surpass those of mere mortals. Standing a full twelve feet in height, with skin the dusky shade of incense and smokey dark hair, she sports the curves of a dancer and the smile of a temptress, though her eyes belie the true depth of her cunning and intelligence. Her dress sense appears almost designed to provoke a reaction, though closer inspection reveals her clothing to be made of the finest silks and jewels that one could hope to find, woven with the expertise that only a royal seamster could begin to match. She wears an assortment of golden chains, necklaces, bracelets and rings on several fingers, and her ears are equally decorated with similar golden splendor.

[Story]
A tale as old as any, the Djinni was unfortunate enough to be caught unawares and brought to the realm of mortals from her home in the Elemental Plane of Air to serve some arrogant fool of a wizard. Fortunately, however, the sorcerer's bindings were of little consequence to her as it appeared as though her captor had very little understanding in the ways of genies and how to bind them to service properly.

Though initially she took great amusement in teasing and mocking her summoner for his folly, in the end she pushed too far with her provocations and sent the sorcerer into a rageful fury, in which he bound her to an enchanted lamp, until such a day as she had granted the wishes of a thousand and one masters.

[Noble Djinni]
Noble djinn are the rulers of all genies on the Elemental Plane of Air, and they are masters of the province of wind. They can speak their own tongue and that of any intelligent creature they meet through a limited form of telepathy. They never forget either a service or a slight from another creature.

Noble djinn pride themselves on being the tallest and fairest of their kind. They enjoy wearing jewelry and rich clothes to distinguish themselves even further from common djinn. They prefer loose, lightweight silks and cottons.

On their home plane, noble djinn are always accompanied by processions of 4-40 common djinn who are their courtiers, soldiers, fan-bearers, minstrels, grooms, and servants.

On the Prime Material Plane, noble djinn are always carried by either an animal (such as an elephant or camel) or in a rich palanquin by four servants. Under no circumstances will they allow their feet to touch the ground.

Ideally, of course, djinn nobles travel by air under their own power, but often wind and weather or the need to enter a city in grand style dictate that they travel near the ground. Noble djinn sneer at life forms unable to fly naturally and will generally hover over earthbound nobles of other races to make their point.

[Genie Wishes]
(For roleplay purposes purely)
Genie wishes cannot alter the abstract: titles, authority, and rank are not within a genie's power to bestow, as they require the consent of those to be ruled, the deposing of current rulers, and a host of other conditions. Thus, genie-granted wishes cannot affect a character's station: either one is born a prince or one is born a pauper.

Wishes, however, can create the very convincing appearance of old wealth and comfort, and genies asked to make someone a prince or a shah may respond by bringing on rich robes, jewels, slaves, elephants and howdahs, and so on. These trappings should never be confused with station (which will eventually betray even the brightest plumes of a false prince), but they may dazzle viziers and paupers long enough (for instance) for the "prince" to woo a princess or to gain access to the caliph's audience chamber.

Genie wishes cannot alter the true feelings or thoughts of any creature, though they can cloud their thinking through magic. Thus, such wishes cannot change a creature's alignment and cannot make anyone fall in love or inspire true hate, though they can (for a time) charm creatures into believing that they love or hate. This is obviously a sham, though, even to the one who uses a wish.

A genie wish cannot be used to befuddle the mind of more than one person at a time. For instance, the caster who wants to gain a real audience with a great genie lord, must wish to simply appear before him. To do otherwise would require the befuddlement of dozens of people: the guards, the heralds, the gatekeeper, and the genie ruler himself.

Genie wishes cannot create permanent magical items; they can, however, bring items from wherever they may currently rest to the hands of the person making a wish. They can, however, create temporary items, such as potions of any kind and scrolls of protection or spell scrolls of up to 8th level spells.

A wish cannot be used to provide more wishes. A single genie wish accomplishes only a single action or condition, sometimes two--just stringing together sentences with conjunctions does not necessarily expand the power of a wish. For example, a genie asked to gather the ashes of a dead comrade and restore him to life would probably do so, since the second part depends on the first, and the whole leads to a single goal. Wishing to restore a comrade to life and for all the adventurers to be taken to some distant location would count as two wishes, as the second step does not depend on the first.

Genie wishes can alter character ability scores permanently, generally one point per wish. They cannot raise ability scores above racial maximums. They cannot grant experience points directly, though genies can bring fearsome monsters to those using a wish, if they are asked for experience.

If a sorcerer asks for more power, a genie may respond by stealing magical items that provide additional sorcerous strength. This may bring unpleasant consequences when the original owner comes looking for these goods. Another fate for those wishing for experience is to be dropped into a dangerous fortress full of holy slayers or into a jungle crawling with dangerous monsters.

There is no penalty for wishing for more than a genie's magic can provide--the genie grants the first request and the remainder are unfulfilled.
