Kathryn's mother was a kidnapped elf, made a slave to the head of an Orc tribe high in the mountians of the Spine of the World, after several years she gave birth to a daughter.  Fearing her daughter to become a slave and property of the clan she tattoed the child as a baby, naming her as a cursed female trying to save her from the horrible life she was living.  The mother killed just a few months after the birth as the tribe took a new leader.  Kathryn was sold to group of orcs who were killed when they were traveling back to there village, and Kathryn became the property of yet a third tribe.  She lived there for much of her childhood and young teenage years, spared by the tattoos that covered her body.  When several drunk orcs tried to have there way with her, they were found dead, there heads crushed by some incredible force.  Kathryn was forced to flee her village and soon ended up in Neverwinter were she became a runner for a local merchant.  After several years she was given the chance to train as a gurd because of her strength.  She was on her maidenvoyage when the ship she was on was attacked by pirates and her employer killed, having no place to go she stayed at Sinfar.

 Kathryn is half elf/orc, she is tall, almost 6 foot, looks like her mother, other then the tattoos that cover her face and body. Other then her large size she has a slender build, and would be considered "wirery" in her build. If one can read the orcish symbols on her body and face they would know that she is a former property of the Spine Orc Clan.
