Niar'Haanin

Portrait
Description
At a distance this young drowess would not seem remarkable or imposing standing at 4'8" with a small, compact, and lithe body; however, upon closer inspection the viewer may change their opinion.  Her right eye has been replaced by a dark obsidian orb that glows with a faint red light to match the left, and some of her limbs seem to glint a deeper obsidian color than the rest of her skin depending on the light she is standing in...
Anyone well versed in Drow lore or culture would immediately recognize this figure as an adamantine soldier, one of the marvels of drow magic and careful engineering.

::More Details::

::Her Back::
If seen with little clothing, her adamantine limbs can more easily be discerned from the rest of her body. Niar'haanin's back seems by far the most scarred part of her figure, and spaced evenly down her spine are small circular adamantine plates, these begin at the base of her neck until just above her tailbone.  From just an outside look, it is unclear if these are used simply as reparations to her spine, or for another purpose.

::Her Chest::
Niar'haanin's chest seems to be one of the least scarred areas of her body, and the only visible change due to her condition is the metal surface supporting her left arm. This surface wraps down to just above her left breast and heart.  The smooth surface seems to have been carved very carefully and precisely in the design of a spider's web, and the carving seems to be older than the rest of her body.

::Left Arm::
Her left arm is composed entirely of adamantine and seems to have dark black veins running through it, though they are difficult to discern from the rest of the metal. An hourglass is depicted on her bicep, carved with a keen focus on detail

::Right Arm:: Unlike her left arm, Niar'haanin's right is only adamantine from a point just above where her right elbow would be, down. Upon closer inspection, it can be seen that this arm also has similar dark veins to her left, but also more sparsely. On the palm of her hand and forearm, three summoning runes have been inscribed.

::Legs and Feet::
Her right leg is completely flesh and bone, smooth down to the tips of her toes and unblemished, but not so with her left. About halfway down her thigh, the smooth skin is interrupted by faint scarring surrounded by adamantine plates...marking the rest of her leg as metal. This metal is different from her arms in that there are no dark veins running through it. This metal also seems more durable and solid than her other limbs.

On the half of her thigh that is metal, there is a carving of the bottom half of a dragon meeting with the flesh of her leg, where the depiction is completed by a tattoo on the real, flesh and blood half of her thigh.  Her feet are smooth and remarkably similar in shape and she seems to move upon them as easily as anyone. Niar'haanin is rarely seen wearing shoes, though it is unclear just by looking at her why she prefers to walk without them.

::Adamantine::
This is a jet-black alloy comprised of mostly adamantium, often bonded with a few other metals. Niar'haanin's adamantine a deep obsidian sheen when viewed by dim slight, and a purple-white sheen if seen under magical light. Adamantine is a metal that is only found in the underdark or occasionally in small metorites falling to Abeir-Toril.

The carvings on Niar'haanin's Adamantine are not simply for show, but the delicate and loving way in which they were made express the idea that her limbs are an art form, a way she expresses herself, and something she values very highly.

:Abilities:
Manipulate limbs: Adamantine Soldiers have the ability to manipulate their limbs at will, allowing them to change their shape to create their weapon of choice or to make minor changes in manipulating the metal to other shapes.

While most adamantine soldiers focus their modifications for use in melee combat, Niar'haanin has made personal modifications for ranged. Upon first look, she would appear unarmed, but she can quickly will the metal from her left arm to make broad shield as a living extension of herself, and the inner forearm of her right has runes carved into it to summon  an enchanted staff, making it almost impossible to disarm her unless the limbs are forcefully removed.

:Drawbacks: The drow magic and adamantine slowly lose their power without the radiation of the underdark, causing her limbs to eventually stop functioning if in direct sunlight, to slow this effect, Niar'haanin keeps most of her body covered when adventuring on the surface, and has laced some parts of her adamantine with mithral to better contain the limbs' power; however, this only offers limited protection, and she is forced to limit her time on the surface to less than a day.

However, to combat this, Niar'haanin has recently began experimenting with crystal pendants. These crystals are what she believes is the source of the radiation in the underdark and often retain the radiation for longer than her adamantine. This allows her, in theory, to last a little bit longer on the surface in an emergency by focusing the radiation of the crystals into her limbs. The pendant she wears glows with a soft violet hue.

OOC: Thanks if you managed to read through all of that! If you have any questions about Niar'haanin, I'm very tell friendly. As for roleplay lights, I'm open to almost anything as long as it's well roleplayed out.
