--Short and Sweet--

Slithering along with a feint bob and weave of its skull, vibrant and expressive emerald eyes examine its surroundings with curious glee, a wide forked tongue flickering in little hisses. Its sinuous body was armored in black scales with bright green stripes along her length, giving off a faint metallic sheen when struck by rays of light. Her underbelly was also bright green and connected to each of the thin stripes showing off her poisonous nature to would- be predators. Strong muscles would move fluidly to propel the creature along whatever terrain it currently found itself traveling on. When startled or excited, a scaled 'hood' of sorts would flair open from either side of its head and down half a foot. On the back of her hood there was a curious design not unlike a tribal chain tattoo which would curve downward and looked like a pair of wings.

The first thing you'd notice about Esmeralda is her face. If one would take even a second to take a good look at this large creatures face they'd notice that it was extremely expressive, separating her from the usual snake. The small ridges above her eyes would be very animated, able to knit inwards to frown or rise up when surprised, acting as if she had eyebrows. Her eyes themselves were a vibrant green and had two thin black irises shaped like slits, they showed intelligence and vibrancy that could not be seen in most other reptiles. Her mouth was the most interesting part by far, the ridge of her mouth was able to purse and tilt in ways that gave eloquence to her emotions as if they were lips.

Your first guess to her species would be a cobra due to her colouration and the large hood that rested on her neck, but there were many differences that separated her from a normal member of her species that aren't so obvious to the naked eye.
Also, she could speak. That's right! She was an awakened animal and was quite intelligent. She quite openly defied many of the rules of nature that prevented snakes from being so articulate. She was not too proud to pronounce a few words with a cheeky little "hiss", either. Like all snakes her jaw could unhinge to twice the size of her body's thickness, in her mouth was a series of fleshy bumpy bits that were probably important, for instance; her tongue's sheath and her fangs, which unlike most cobras fangs, could be folded back and hidden away.
