A large humanoid rat creature with short dark grey fur lurks about watching the citizens with black, empty, hungry eyes.  It carries some crude weaponry, and wears the minimum of clothing, showing some intelligence and sense of social norms.  It seems wary or hostile to most other races, on it's guard at most times, and preferring to observe and stalk the shadows.

Born a rat, living in the sewers as vermin, and prey to aspiring adventurers, some twist of fate led this creature to consume material that began a twisted metamorphasis.  Knowing only the hungers for food and breeding, it lived a simple existence as it's bulk swelled, and warped, until it grew too large to breed with it's own kind and even consuming other rats was not enough to sate it's hunger.  These pains were eclipsed by the birth of intellect and cunning, leading the creature to the surface streets to find new food sources, learn language, trade, and discover new creatures that sated it's denied desire for breeding.  In it's new form this beast still remembers being hunted through the sewers and resents the treatment of it's lesser kin, taking pleasure in turning the tables on proud and arrogant adventurers.
