The master scowled at him, It was your duty to look after Lady Kite. Now she has slipped away. So rather then waste years of training and investment. it is your duty to find and return her. NO matter how far away she has gotten.

And so she got very far away. He crossed a continent and through several portal to find her. Once he did, there was a fight then an agreement. She set him free after years of subservience, he was faced with an unknown reality, his freedom. She disappeared into the mesh of the Islands, rarely to be seen or heard of.

He was raised from the age of seven to be a companion to a daimyo's daughter. (actually sold to the house as no one wanted a mixed mongrel, a mix of Waterdhavian and Kara-Turan blood) An unusual place for an expendable classless child. he watched and learned with her, eventually allowed to join the house guard, but limited to making sure Kite didn't get into much mischief. The one thing that spared him death on her escape, it was the guard that night who messed up.
