"Perhaps we will never know the true purpose of our Creation. If so, then it is upon myself and my Forge-brothers to create our own purpose; our own future"

A creation of steel and wood, Ward stands at 6'6", and weighs roughly 300 pounds. With no carbon based wrapping, his grey metallic body is displayed for all to see, wrapped only in loose clothing and sometimes a hood. Practically made of armor, his outward shell is made of  heavy steel plates. Beneath the steel are wooden fibers and pulp that serve as muscle, which aids in keeping his movements limber and flexible, something most golems fail to accomplish. The head is the most prominent feature of the Warforged. Ward's head resembles a bald Human head, with his Creation Number engraved upon the cranium. He has glowing blue eyes, as well as jaws that open on hinges. His hands are larger than average and embedded with crystal shards unlike other Warforged perhaps to facilitate the casting of spells.

Forged in an era of strife, Unit 423's intended purpose was to assist in the building of war constructs in addition to functioning as a battle mage. Thus, the artificiers of the House Cannith Manufactorum began construction as per the units designated specs. However, after completion the group tasked with transporting Unit 423 to his destination was ambushed by mercenaries. Unit 423's sentience was activated to fight off the ambushers and he performed his task efficiently and mercilessly. Too efficiently, as all the transporters were killed along with the mercenaries in the blast of lightening and flames. Their deaths leaving Unit 423 alone in the world and without a purpose of his own.

As a machine with sentience, it's mind reeled with things like "emotion" and "free thought". These things generated sensations of insecurity within him and it was this free thought that led to his core programming undergoing a change of protocol. The cores directive changed from "Build and destroy for House Cannith" to "Understand the mystery of my existence". For this task, 423 turned to the mage guilds of Eberron for answers; reading through vast libraries and repositories of ancient lore in order to find a way to uncover the truth. Once he had learned of the secret arcane forges that created his kind, the Warforged decided he knew what he must to do.

By encouragement of his fellow Wizards, 423 embraced his inborn knowledge of all things arcane, donning the moniker of Ward, and vowing to weave his spells in the name of something greater than himself. To this end, the Warforged wizard now found himself in unexplored philosophy: the life of a mercenary.

In the years that followed, 423 learned to appreciate the sentiment of the mortal races, and developed a moral compass of his own. With no need for wealth or earthly posessions, to 423 only the pursuit of greater knowledge and the concept of honor were left to strive for. But even with his life dedicated to that he was a machine built for war and thus, this too, had to be his purpose in life.

Living Construct: Warforged are living constructs and do not need to eat, drink, sleep or breathe.

Unsleeping Watcher: Warforged do not sleep and instead enter a sort of stand by mode where they are completely inactive but are fully aware of their surroundings and can notice events such as conversations and the movement of people. In this mode the warforged only need 4 hours until they are considered fully rested.

Orerry: Enclosed within his chest is a spherical device is one foot in diameter adorned with gemstones that illustrates the relative positions and motions of the moons and other celestial bodies wherever he happens to be.
