Noteable items/Equipment

Doomguide's Visage (Mask)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The visage is a testament to Raniero's everlasting dedication to his Kelemvorian faith. Even as he lives on as "Saizel", he wears the visage both to remind himself of his charge and to mock the unliving that would dare step before him.
The face of the mask is designed to easily deatch from the cowl, allowing it to  be raised and lower at will. In the dead center of the forehead lies an impression matching perfectly with the Doomguide's pendant which he regularly wears around his neck.
Pazuzu's Pride (Mask)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the demon lord Pazuzu stole Raniero's humanity he reveled in his victory by granting his victim one final patronizing pity. Aware of the anguish his actions would cause, Pazuzu bestowed upon him the gift of a mask bearing his symbol, the bloody wings, upon its forehead.

As if to spite his tormentor, Saizel now chooses to wear the mask in the many battles he fights against fiends in the name of his redeemer, Raziel. Meanwhile, Saizel longs for the day that Pazuzu comes to regret his actions when word reaches him of the man bearing his mark cutting down his demon minions.

Character Background

Raniero had once been a veteran Doomguide, stationed at the Tower of Bones and serving primarily as an enforcer who would root out and destroy the undead and the cults that summon and worship them. Unbeknownst to him he would meet his end when he played into the hands of the demon lord Pazrael, who finds great pleasure in corrupting pure mortal souls. Disguised as a mysterious informant, he lured Raniero to a site alleged to be the lair of a necromancer. There he found and slew his quarry but without a moment's rest he found himself engaged in a life or death battle against a fearsome abyssal ghoul, summoned there by Pazuzu himself. Raniero, in the process of slaying the abomination, suffered multiple brutal claw and bite wounds which would surely prove fatal. His strength was sapped and he could do nothing but ward himself against the curse of undeath and await his demise, slipping into the silence of unconsciousness.

He was to be kept alive by a strange figure who he only ever caught a glimpse of during waking moments interceding long periods of darkness. As time drew on he instinctively knew that his ward had expired. Unnatural hunger and nightmares of becoming his own worst enemy served to confirm that which he feared most of all. Only after allowing dread to chip away at his sanity did Pazuzu reveal himself with what appeared to be a reasonable offer. If he would henceforth bear the demon lord's mark, he would be spared his fate. Otherwise, he would be left to die and be reborn as a monster. In truth, his situation was hopeless and when he accepted the proposal he found himself mutilated in short order, changed into something less than human.

The physical transformation, although agonizingly painful, was nothing in comparison to the fact that he could no longer return to his people, or any people, for that matter. With horns and wings adorning his figure, he was somewhere between fiendish and human and would soon discover that the urge to [Redacted to promote RP].

From then he spent years reluctantly [Redacted to promote RP] and bitterly surviving until a chance encounter with a celestial avatar. The celestial could sense Raniero's inherent humanity and chose to allow his paragon, Raziel the Crusader, to pass judgement in his stead.

In the end Raziel decided that he need not be vanquished if he could be made to find purpose in his otherwise doomed nature. With his magic he would suppress Pazuzu's demonic taint using the power contained within the [Redacted to promote RP]. This was no ideal solution however and he soon found that dancing between a state of corruption and humanity would cause significant strain on his soul and force him to cope by splitting the whole of his psyche into two parts, one for each state of existence.

Although unable to interact directly, his two sides still subconsciously debate among themselves as to which represents his true nature. Perhaps they were both wrong as it could be argued that he was now less human than ever before.
