Arnold is a washed up bard, it's hard being formerly famous, everyone used to look up to you, people would point at you and say "Hey, aren't you Arnold the Bard?" cash rolling in and women on either arm.
But the hedonist lifestyle catches up to you sooner or later, you start to put on weight and lose your goodlooks, all the cigarettes you smoke destroy your singing voice, losing your source of income. This also means to get girls, you need to rely on your actual winning personality, which Arnold does not have.
Rude, petulant and self centered, Arnold would do anything to get his former lifestyle back, even if it costs him the few friends he has left.

Arnold is also a horseman, that's probably what you would have noticed first and probably what I should have opened with. Sorry.
