Crowe

Description
Crowe was an odd little thing.

This being was most certainly some kind of anthromorphic bird. It had feathered, digigrate legs with long, sharp avian talons for toes, and large, feathered black wings. It also had a feathered tail rather like that of a crow's, as well.

From the waist up, however, the little bird seemed a lot more humanoid. It had smooth, hairless (and featherless) skin from the waist up, somewhat narrow hips, a flat chest, and a scrawny, weak frame. It wasn't entirely clear whether this being was male or female, and its more feminine choices of attire also didn't help the matter there.

Its face had a mixture of humanoid and somewhat alien characteristics. Its cheeks had a small lining of black feathers, though they ended far before the mouth. Its lips were a charcoal black colour, as was the inside of its mouth and tongue, aside from the teeth. Its eyes were also pure black, beady little orbs that peeked out from behind a mask that never seemed to be removed. You'd be forgiven for mistaking the thin half-mask as part of Crowe's face.

And then there was its demeanour. Crowe almost seemed to be scared of everyone, keeping its distance from everyone it didn't already know. It almost seemed like an abused child, from its simplistic worldview of 'everything is scary', to its difficulties with speaking and understanding. However, if you broke through the language barrier, or took the time to explain your words to Crowe in simpler terms, you would find a being that was far, far less stupid than it insisted it was, and occasionally the little thing might be heard reciting a minor incantation.

Those more in tune with nature might feel uneasy around Crowe as well, as if the bird did not belong and was not natural. Perhaps it wasn't really a threat to anything or anyone, and Crowe seemed more to simply want to leave its life and not hurt anyone, but whatever it was, Crowe wasn't natural at all. Perhaps the fact that it was never, ever spot flying or even attempting to might help the feeling of wrongness about the bird. Its wings -did- look large enough to fly with.

Who was Crowe? Well, the little bird might explain it best in its own words - "Crowe is Crowe." Crowe is the only Crowe, the only one of its kind.

And no, Crowe is not going to sleep with you. In fact, if you suggest it, the bird would probably run screaming. So it might be best not to try.
