This man once had another identity... old and broken, before he was found and made anew.  Shattered and elder parts removed, and upgraded.

He did not go willingly: marks from this fallen hero's last battle now appear upon his scarred face.  

Now, he is bound to a far different fate from that which he had originally hoped for when he arrived to the Sinfar Isles.
