They are cut surprisingly short for such a barbarian looking man and so deep black that the appear to shine blue in the sunlight.

While he moves something blinks and you are now moving your pupils to this . Focusing.
That thing which looks from near the bottom of his cloak and blinks is the head of an battle which hangs in a leather loop from his broad warbelt.
The head and his torc reflects the light sometimes on his path out of you sight.
