The creature is a mass of black and purple chitin.  Fleshier bits, like its four eyes and wings are green matching the color of the creature's ichor... should any of it ever spill.  While small, the layers of organic armor were thick.  Even swords or spears could barely scratch it without serious force.


If trying to understand the creature, one is free to guess motives based on perceptions, but those with animal empathy can glean a bit more.
