Fleshcrafting and golemsmithing are two very different methods of attaining the same basic goal; creating something for a specific purpose. It's a rare mage that manages to put the two together, though, and some of the most frightful creatures imaginable come from such a union of the two disciplines. The biomechanical pixie hovering before you is an example, though perhaps not an obvious one.
What passes for her skin is tinted a shade of blue-grey that no living creature could lay claim to. It's soft, and preternaturally smooth to the touch, if one happens to be so lucky as to cop a feel. Her eyes are silver, and close inspection yields that they're entirely mechanical in nature, allowed to spin and rotate freely in their sockets. Her hair is a darker shade of blue, the strands always holding exactly the same shape and length. Protruding rather visibly from her back is a large metal cylinder, almost as large as the rest of her torso. The center of its flat side carries a peculiar lock, and a softly glowing symbol reminiscent of a Celtic flower painted across it. Spreading forth from either side of the rounded metal are wings, though it takes some effort to realize that's what they actually are. An elegant, if vicious framework carries a score of hanging, serrated blades on each wing, cut to resemble feathers. A gently glowing orange cable lay threaded along the top edge, presumably to supply power. They don't move in a manner that ought to give her flight, yet she never touches the ground; in her own words, "Walking is for chumps." Her hands take an even stranger turn. They possess no wrist, the overlarge claws protruding in the manner of a gauntlet from her forearms, with heavy metal plating along the outer surface. Tubes run from those plates back up directly into her arms, melding and flowing into the flesh with no discernable seam. Centered in each palm is a large aperture; what they could possibly be for is, at best, ominous. Her entire height from head to toe is difficult to gauge, given her floating nature, but one could estimate perhaps two feet. She's small enough to fit on a shoulder at least, if one doesn't mind the horribly sharp wings near their head. Anatomically, she looks relatively appropriate; almost certainly totally female, if gender means anything to a clearly artificial creature. Directly over where the heart would be in any natural humanoid is another instance of the softly glowing flower, presumably a mark of her creator or at least her current owner. |
