Ancalemar is an Altmer who hails from Alinor, a group of isles to the south west of Tamriel, the largest continent of Nirn, a world in the plane of Mundus.

What is an Altmer?

Altmer are a tall race of elves with gold skin who live in the Summerset Isles. They are known as High Elves by the denizens of Tamriel. They are strongly gifted in arcane magic and can live well up to 200 or 300 years.

Altmer are usually proud and/or snobbish, believing themselves as superior to any other race. They consider themselves to be the most civilized culture in their world.

Who are the Thalmor?

Initially a radical political movement with core values such as Elven supremacy and xenophobia. They were ignored, but following a great disaster they claimed credit for the salvation of the Altmeri people to greatly enhance their influence.

The Thalmor motives are somewhat obscure due to their secrecy, but several things are quite clear. They hate non elves (to different degrees), and they are merciless with those who oppose them (even if they are Altmer).
