I was, well, the product of chance, a brief encounter between a wandering hedge wizard and his mother one of the three matriarchs of the sizeable elven settlement of Ruby Oaks. Ruby Oaks is an elven sttlement that exists largely within three gigantic, hollow, blood red oak trees in the middle of a vast expanse of forest. Each tree is dedicated to a different aspect of Ruby Oak culture; knowlege material, knowledge metaphysical, and knowledge martial. My mother Celestine Verdhardt was the leader of the tree of metaphysical knowledge with domain odver the spiritual and magical lives of the settlements elves.

I grew up surrounded by thousands upon thousands of scrolls on vellum and bark, chained books, and the occasional stone tablet all placed lovingly on carved shelves that spiralled their way up the interior of my oaken home. Knowlegde collected from hundreds of years of travellers and elven expeditions. I studied dutifully under the  firm yet kind tutilage of my mother until my graduation in the 25th year of my life, I was to take up the position of junior wizard protector.

During the ceremony to celebrate the newly appointed junior wizard protectors our home was raided by the orc tribes that we had always considered more a nusiance than a threat. I saw my mother cut down before my very eyes her death, by a knife from the shadows, the first of many as the orcs set fire to our home. They were eventually beaten and my oaken home saved but without the ties of family and unable to forget the tragedy I decided to leave my home for distant lands.

I do not talk much about the specifics of the ceremony or the certain cultural practices of my home.
