Joseph of The Faelgrim

Portrait
Description
The Faelgrim are those who have commit crimes in Blacksteel but repented and vowed to live the rest of their days in service of the Ancients and Blacksteel. They are something of an unofficial Templar, wandering the city and surrounding area, taking on the burdens of commoners and attempting to fulfil their quests without promise of reward. The Faelgrim have an oath, which they regularly recite whenever passing a Gods Wood. This is seen as a way to remind themselves of what they have forsaken, a life of criminality. "Many happy returns", a say that at face value could appear to be something of a positive message. Only in general Blacksteel tongue, "return" is generally meant "to kill", to return someone is to return them to the ground and their energy to the Ancients.
The Faelgrim have no official authority within Blacksteel, but people are aware of their order and they are generally respected. The Faelgrim seek out witches and wrong doers, using means that sometimes bend the Blacksteel laws. Given such methods, it's not uncommon for them to be found dead, but even so, they persist. Although in service to the High Lord, they do it in their own way. After all, in their eyes there is only one authority which is given credence above all, and that is the authority of the Ancients wishes.
When someone commits a crime against another living creature, or uses magic, in the dogma of the Faelgrim, they become viable for the "Ancient's Retribution". This is basically a green light, in which the Faelgrim will seek out the murderer and return him or her.
Joseph is one of the longer standing members of the Order, highly thought of by those within. Even so, Joseph has kept his life by only a thread on many encounters. What he lacks in skill and combat prowess, he makes up for in enthusiasm.
