Janine was always fascinated, even when quite little, with round things, especially round things going fast.  Many times she ended up in trouble for throwing stones but not because she missed what she was aiming at.

She turned into the best pitcher on her wyvernball team, or any other in town, so good that you could barely see the ball fly once it left her hand or tell where it was going, but she knew.

Off to Trans Poly U on a sports scholarship, she picked up a morningstar flail in weapons class and spent the first day just watching it swing and circle around her hand before even trying to hit anything with it and hit things she did, finishing top of her class in close armed combat.

When she found out a pistol fired little round balls even faster than she could throw them, there was nothing stopping her from getting one, and now......

Speaking of classes, when asked how she graduated from an Arcane Engineering Academy without apparently knowing much in the way of magic, she just sighs, rolls her eyes, says "the same way I got the scholarship", closes her lips around a finger as she slides it back and forth between them a few times, then swallows and gives an exaggerated wink leaving the asker to wonder what the truth really is.
