White hairs have befallen Gilfred at a relatively young age.  Black was the color of his youth, but grey is the color of his adulthood.  Not yet balding, and not yet bleached, his peppered hair heralds the coming of his winter years long ahead of, it seems, his vigor.  His yet lively face shows no wear but the roughening of stubble and a lifetime well spent.  It is strange, then, that when the laughing lines of his cheeks wrinkle with his well-practiced smile, the creases around his eyes do not.  His eyes just look.

And they never seem to like what they see.
