Skaven. Such a word is enough to encite some measure of disgust, worry, or a combination of the two in any surface-dwelling man or woman.
But here? Mayhaps instead it inspires confusion as to what it means... You see a lanky, black-furred rattish figure hunching in the shadows, watching the world pass him by with yellow eyes. While it would be easy to assume him to stand at roughly five and a half feet in height, the rat-man never seems to stand upright - Instead walking while leaning forward or running on all fours. From the top of his head to his ankles he is covered in deep, black fur, the fuzzy coat thick and somewhat fluffy, surprisingly clean and smelling of some plain, unremarkable soap. Indeed, someone seems to be ensuring he takes care of himself, if it is not he himself doing it. His hands, feet, and tail are all naked, bare of fur and thick-skinned, numerous thin scars as if from knives, claws, and teeth marring the gray flesh. His ears bear numerous small piercings of gold and silver, a large nick missing from the right ear betraying the history of some old battle. His muzzled face too is sharp and angular, watching the world with a constant trace of distrust - But also blatant curiosity, as if he were fascinated by the strange no-furs and their surface-dwelling ways. Or, mayhaps, curious as to which of the furless creatures would be a better mark. It's hard to tell what goes on behind those cold, yellow eyes. He is frequently wearing a ratty old cloak that looks like it was once a large burlap sack that had fallen into an oil spill. Countless pockets and loops are sewn into the hole-filled fabric, many more hidden in the folds of fabric. A keen-eyed enchanter (Or anyone that can detect magic, really), might recognize the countless pockets as being small bags of holding, no doubt containing a plethora of bits and baubles. A more nosey or curious individual would easily find, hidden behind a tattered loincloth, a sizable pair of balls and a generously large sheathe above them, marking the rattish figure as blatantly male and obviously fertile. Perhaps that explains why he walks with a constantly hunched posture. Super shiny new F-List! https://www.f-list.net/c/a%20very%20wary%20rat |
