Aurora of Avalon

Description

A young deva in service to Ilmater, Aurora was born to selflessly consume the sins and suffering of others. Known in the outer planes as the Child Light, the Sin Eater, or the Whore of Avalon.

Aurora's radiant beauty literally illuminates the area around her, as though the heavens have cast down a beacon upon her for all to behold. Her hair is a brilliant, shimmering gold, like woven sunlight, and as soft as the clouds from the glorious realms from which she hails. Her flawless skin is bright with the bloom of youth; she strikes the slender, svelte figure of a girl in her late teens, with small, perky breasts, a slim hourglass, and the long, lissome legs of a dancer. Such is her divine grace that she barely seems to touch the ground as she walks, almost floating like a leaf on the wind.

Amidst the eternal light of Chronias, highest of the Seven Heavens, a tiny ray of pure silver light shone upon the bleeding hands of Ilmater. The Crying God wept to behold such purity and innocence, and named the tiny sliver Aurora, "Child of Light." The light bloomed from his bloody tears and he beheld the figure of a young woman with the countenance of virtuous femininity; a radiant, untainted soul pure in both form and purpose.

Though the youngest and weakest of the devas, Aurora was unique among them: She was a Sin Eater. Such was the purity of her soul that, through suffering, she could absolve the sins of man and fell alike, washing their souls clean as though born anew. No soul was too depraved to cleanse; even the damned, long thought to be beyond hope, were now granted salvation.

The Crying God anointed the young deva as one of his chosen and sent her to the gates of Avalon, a city upon the shores of the Astral Plane where the souls of the newly dead petition for entrance to Mount Celestia. There she became known as the Whore of Avalon; she offered her body to the souls of the meek and wretched, who abused her in unspeakable ways to selfishly purge their sins and enter the gates of heaven.

For a century, she endured. However, word of this unique creature had spread far beyond the realm of her birth, and darker powers sought the angel's gift for their own devices; for indeed, in the wrong hands, she could be used to mount an invasion of the heavens by those otherwise forever shut away from its light. She was kidnapped from Avalon by pirates of the Astral Sea, though it was not long before her captors met an ill end; the angel has changed hands dozens of times as a previous captor was murdered or betrayed, often finding herself the prize of a master or mistress far more depraved than the last, bearing sins ever darker. One can only wonder if the Crying God, in his naive but earnest desire to save every soul, no matter how lost, had intended this cruel fate all along.

As a deva chosen by the Crying God, Aurora is a creature of mercy and compassion: She is a powerful cleric and a conduit for healing and restoration magic. She has never held a weapon though her spells can be used in self-defense. It is clear that, unlike other devas and powerful celestials, she is not a combatant. Her gifts are instead rather unique:

Purity ~ Born from the purest light atop the highest peak of Mount Celestia, she cannot be corrupted or turned to darkness. Thus she is able to bear the sins of others, no matter how great and terrible, without damning her own soul.

Absolution ~ As a holy child of Ilmater, her emotional or physical pain can purify even the darkest soul. Through suffering; salvation. Absolution does not change the character of the individual; it merely absolves them of all past sins. It is a simple thing, both a gift and a curse, but it is for this ability that she has been such a valued prize.

Mercy ~ An individual can purge a sin merely by confessing to it; she will forgive any transgression. The great tragedy of Aurora is that one need only confess their sins to be forgiven, but inflicting suffering is easier, quicker, and requires no remorse for previous crimes.

Compassion ~ Her tears are ambrosial, purifying disease, poison, and healing injuries. They are also a key component for certain ritual magics and alchemical recipes.

Tell-friendly.

Note that until she is established in a position where ERP can happen organically, any ERP will have to be arranged through tells. There is a difference between a whore and a slut, and for Aurora sex and other debauchery is a duty, not a pleasure.

True to the character's background, I am looking for a master/mistress, brothel, or other organization that can prostitute her. Infernals or  well-intentioned, extremist Celestials exploiting her ability for personal ambition or the delusion that they are serving the greater good are two ideas, as an example. Various shady organizations might be compatible as well. Such an arrangement may only be temporary as I OOCly find the role best suited for her and ICly she is abducted by new captors.
