Physical Description:

    A monstrous shade-like being that seems to absorb nearly all light that touches it. It's face is varied and shifts into various forms, gaining and losing features as befits it's whim. It's gaunt and hunched-over, but the presence of sword-length claws and disproportionate bulges of assumed muscle make gauging it's abilities difficult.

Conscious Concept: Schaden is a manifestation of the concept of harm, a primordial spirit that has existed since the first shred of doubt blossomed in the minds of mortals. It is not very powerful, but that is due in part to it not truly being a living immortal being. As a physical manifestation of the metaphysical, Schaden can become non-physical and ethereal; though it often uses such to enhance it's shadow-manipulation or play petty pranks since it looks no different.

Made of Pain: Once ethereal, any being that tries to touch Schaden will pass right through it's form. While emulsed, there is the sensation of mind-numbingly excruciating pain as if the offended flesh was being dissolved or disintegrated while the nerves survived. No physical damage is done, but the target might find themselves feeling a great sense of loss as if the affected area was intensely important and was narrowly stripped from them. The sensation is so intense that the nerves are usually frazzled if they did not recoil immediately, dulling the sensation of pain for up to an hour based on constitution. A DC 40 fortitude and will save can be made to halve the effect of the pain, nerve-dulling, and paranoia respectively.

Aura Sponge: Schaden can pass parts of itself through a target while ethereal. Instead of causing them pain, it instead draws the pain to Schaden. The target would feel all their aches and wounds simply cease hurting and their minds be put at ease as the weight of past trauma and even the heft of mortality and reality itself ceases to bother them. It all comes crashing back once the contact stops, and it's presumable that Schaden feels all of this itself for the duration.

Malice: While not 'evil' or 'unholy' itself, Schaden's nature is such that protection against evil or various divine powers will affect it as if it were; negating or weakening many of it's effects.
