Hers was a mysterious presence, garbed in earthen colours and furs, her wide-brimmed hat resting atop hair the colour of moss and eyes as blue as the clear skies. Fables told of the Witch of the Grey Woods, who roamed the lands and shared her wisdom and her aid to those who were in need of it. Never one to turn away those who requested her assistance, be they man or beast, only to disappear into the misty forests as unexpectedly as she appeared. There were those who sought her out, finding her humble, modest cottage deep within the woods, and staying there for a while to learn the ways of the herb and tonics so that they might bring their knowledge back to their villages and help their own. Until one day, as mysteriously as the woman herself, even that cottage disappeared..
