She was not able to see the path because her eyes were full of tears. Though the horse seemed to know the path and no guidance was needed. "Why must this happen to me? Why, why, why ...?" the voice echoed through Melissa's head. Nate, a blonde, muscular guy, the son of the goldsmith in Anguvathir would get executed. The problem was: Melissa, a naive seventeen years old girl, had fallen in love with that 21 years old guy and had thought he was charming her because he was interested in her. But then it had turned out that he was only using Melissa's admiration and love for stealing some diamonds belonging to her father, the Baron of Anguvathir. Anguvathir was located in Cormyr. A big trading road, called Calantar's Way, connected Suzail, the Capital City of Cormyr, with the major city Arabel in the northern. To get over the Starwater River there was a big bridge, Calantar's Bridge. Following Calantar's Way further to north there was a small village called Hilp, which was also the western point of the Way of Manticore. After following the Way of Manticore a bit towards east a small but paved road diverted from the large road and went south to the bend of the Starwater River. The road was meandering between five interlacing hills and passing a small farming village called Nesmyth first. Three of those hills were also covered by forests, first spurs of the Hermit's woods. It was also giving a more natural barrier to separate and hide the lands of Anguvathir from the vivid travel of the main road and too curious travellers. Anguvathir could not be found in most common maps of Cormyr. Only long-established merchants and people with the knowledge and main goal to Anguvathir knew of this place and were travelling to this. "How could I be so stupid?" Melissa cried out in the forest. She was leaning forward and hugging the neck of her white horse, which had cute brown spots on the forehead. Suddenly the horse slowed down its pace and Melissa noticed how the forest became lighter. She raised her body, wiped off her tears and took the reins in her hands. She guided the horse to the left through a small bush and followed some invisible path. Soon she arrived a little hump with two big and old trees. The horse passed the trees. Melissa closed her eyes for a few seconds. She smelled the wet moss and the wood from the barks of the trees in the forest. When she opened the eyes again bright sunlight flooded into her. Melissa and her horse have arrived a beautiful glade, which had also a small pond. Melissa climbed from her horse, which was walking to the water afterwards for getting a drink. Melissa looked around. The glade was empty as it should be. Nobody except Melissa, her horse and a few of harmless animals have known that place. Melissa removed her cloak and put it on some soft grass. She sat down on her cloak. She was enjoying the scenery and a smile appeared on her face. Slowly Melissa forgot her problems, anger and sorrows. She always came to this place for being alone and cheering up herself when she had some struggle or sorrows. It was her place of peace. The young woman leant back and relaxed. Her eyes were closing. The smell of the moss and trees were surrounding her. The peaceful wind was brushing the leaves with a gentle tune. Melissa dozed off and slipped into a dream. @}--'-- The Biography of Lady Melissa van De'Stynar - Chapter 2 --'--{@ Melissa woke up after having a weird, chaotic dream. She sat up and noticed the sun was staying pretty much high above in the sky. She assumed it must be close to midday so she must have slept at least two and half hours. She turned her head, looking for her white-brown horse. She noticed it was staying a bit further at the edge of the glade and seemed to be nervous about something. Though Melissa could not spot the source what caused the horse's unease. She got back on her feet and picked up her cloak which she has used as a blanket. She walked to the horse and was talking with a calming, sweet voice to the horse "Come here, sweet Sprinkle! I am here. Everything is alright! Sprinkle!" The horse perked up its ears and seem to relax a bit. It was pounding with one front leg a few times on the moss-ground, but then came closer to Melissa. [[Story-gap, actually Work in Progress]] Flames were raising high in the sky. Melissa's eyes wide in shock. The illumination of the fire dancing at the pale skin. Castle Anguvathir was burning. In close proximity an army was staying and preparing the onagers for the next ballistic stone. In the front row two Cormyrean War Wizards could be detected. They were concentrated to feed the fire with their magic from distance, their hands glowing in red. Then she nodded and decided to ride towards Arabel. She knew there was her old girlfriend, Suzan. She must help her and give shelter. She would for sure know what Melissa could do. Melissa could not hold her tears back. Drops were running down a river along her cheek. The wound at her back shoulder was burning. But the betrayal of a friend she has trusted burnt even more. Luckily she got away that easily! ? [When she make a break] She realized how lucky she was: She was even able to grab her small possessions and her horse. She was even that conscious back there to grab some small food. It was not the best cheese or loaf of bread, but it was better than nothing. Melissa wondered. For sure the killing of the guard who tried to catch her will not be unpunished within Cormyr. She for sure must leave this kingdom forever. Melissa realized that she left Arabel to west ? the best open way she had there to leave the city as fast as possible before more alert would raise. This was bad, because this high road led to either the King?s wood, deeper into the kingdom, or, if Melissa wants to leave the kingdom, to the mountains, to High Horn. Unfortunately High Horn is also a fortress, the watchtower of the kingdom of Cormyr. To pass it Melissa needs a good plan. Besides of that the path in the mountains was rough. Melissa remembers her education back in castle Anguvathir. She |
