Millennia have passed since the daughter of Pharaoh Akh-en-Aten left the mortal world. Even statues in her likeness have crumbled into fragments. Yet, in the world of night, the beauty of Ankh-es-en-Amun ("her life is of Amun") endures. Her skin is golden brown, her hair like dark honey, her scent of summer and flowers. Only her eyes reveal the death of her soul. Clouded by cataracts, her gaze is enigmatic at the best of times -- and pitiless in the face of suffering. The further she pulls one into her world, the clearer it becomes that there is nothing human about her. By then, it is all too late. Rare is the individual who would even want to resist the undead queen. Thus she initiates one into the cult of Set. The Followers of Set claim to trace their lineage back to the Egyptian god himself. They seek to undermine the foundations of order and society in all its incarnations. This they do by eroding virtue and restraint in the individual. Their purpose, so they say, is to help all humanity live their lives to the fullest. One must drink deep of every pleasure and temptation, as the gods had meant it to be. Now, her name is Ankh-es-en-Set ("her life is of Set"). She teaches that one must cast aside one's conscience with joy in one's heart. The great vampire queen styles herself a liberator. Who could resist the everlasting temptress? Does she not bring freedom from the shackles of morality and dictates of society? The mere sight of her makes men lay down their lives. A smile from her lips unmakes empires. |
